What this tool does

PDF to EPUB rebuilds the document as a reflowable ebook: text wraps to the screen, the reader controls the font size, and chapters follow the page structure. That is a much better experience than reading a fixed-size PDF on a phone or an e-reader.

The result is a valid EPUB 3 file with a navigation document, metadata and one chapter per selected page. Add a title and author if you want them in your library; if you leave the title empty, the file name is used.

How to convert it

  1. Add the PDF.
  2. Optionally set the book title and author.
  3. Convert, then open the .epub in your reader or send it to your device.

When to use it

  • Reading a long report comfortably on an e-reader.
  • Turning public-domain scans with a text layer into a proper ebook.
  • Making a document readable on a phone without pinch-zooming.

What it cannot do

  • Text only: images, tables as tables and cover art are not included.
  • Scanned PDFs without a text layer produce chapters with no content.

Questions about this conversion

Is this PDF tool really free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit on the number of files. The tools run on your own device, so there is no per-file cost to pass on to you.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Not for this tool: the conversion happens in your browser and the file is never sent anywhere. Where a job genuinely needs a server, the page says so before you start and deletes the copy with the job.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Pages are keyboard reachable and the drop area accepts the phone file picker. Large documents are limited by the memory of the device rather than by the site.

Can I use the output commercially?

Yes. We claim no rights over your documents or the files produced from them, and we add nothing to the output.

Will it work on a Kindle?

Kindle does not read EPUB directly any more, but Send to Kindle converts it for you, and Calibre can convert EPUB to AZW3 in one step. Kobo, Apple Books and most Android readers open it as-is.

One chapter per page seems like a lot of chapters.

It is the only structure a PDF actually provides. Pages are the smallest reliable unit; you can merge chapters afterwards in Sigil or Calibre if the document has longer sections.
