About VoraPDF

VoraPDF is a small, focused set of PDF tools that run inside your browser. It exists because most “free PDF” sites are slow, ad-covered, or quietly upload your documents.

What this site does

VoraPDF offers twenty tools for everyday document work: converting a PDF to Word, JPG, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML or EPUB; building a PDF from Word, PowerPoint, Excel, images, text, RTF or Publisher; and merging, splitting, extracting, rotating, watermarking or compressing an existing PDF.

There are no accounts, no subscription tiers and no advertising. Open a tool, choose a file, get a result.

How the processing works

Everything is done locally. The page loads a copy of the processing engine into your browser, your file is read from disk, and the output is generated in memory before you download it.

Fifteen of the tools never send anything to a server. Six — merge, split, extract, organise, rotate, compress and PDF to image — can hand a large document to our server, because a browser tab cannot hold it. That copy lives in an isolated task directory only while the job runs, and is deleted with the job.

Built on open-source software

The site is rendered by PHP on the server with a small amount of vanilla JavaScript, and relies on two well-established open-source libraries: PDF.js for reading and rendering pages, and pdf-lib for writing and modifying PDF structure.

Both run entirely client-side, which is what makes local processing possible.

Known limitations

Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before use. Compression is lossy: pages are re-rendered as images, so text is no longer selectable afterwards.

Jobs are limited to 200 MB per file and 20 files at a time. If a large job fails on a low-memory phone, splitting it into smaller parts usually solves it.
