The difference
What is actually different here
Every row below is a property of how the site is built, not a promise about how it behaves.

Six tools fall back to a server only for documents too large for a browser tab, and only after the page asks first.
How it works
Three steps, no account
-
1
Add files
Drop a file or pick it from your device. Nothing is sent anywhere until a tool genuinely needs a server, and then you are asked first.
-
2
Set options
Set the page range, quality or format. Invalid values are rejected before any work starts.
-
3
Download
Download the result, or the ZIP when a tool produces several files. Nothing is kept afterwards.
Privacy
Private by design, not by promise
Every tool opens your file in the browser and does the work there, so there is nothing to upload and no copy on our side. The one exception is a document larger than a browser tab can handle (over 200 pages): the tool then says so and waits for your click before sending it to our server, and that copy is deleted as soon as the result is ready.
- Fifteen tools never send a byte of your document anywhere.
- The two heavy tools only offer the server path once a document exceeds what a browser can hold, and your click is what sends it.
- Server uploads are written to an isolated task directory with a random name, processed there, and deleted with the job. We never open, index or scan your document.
- Your language choice is stored in your browser, nothing else is.
- No analytics, advertising or tracking scripts are loaded.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are my files uploaded to a server?
Mostly not: fifteen tools never upload anything. The seven organising tools — merge, split, extract, organise, rotate, compress and PDF to image — fall back to our server only for documents a browser cannot hold, and only after the page tells you first. That upload goes to an isolated directory with a random name, is processed there, and is deleted together with the task — after 60 minutes at the very latest. No copy survives, so nothing can be recovered afterwards.
Is VoraPDF really free?
Yes. All twenty tools are free to use without an account. There is no premium tier hiding a feature you just clicked on, and no watermark is added to your output.
Do I need to create an account?
No account, email address or sign-in is required. The site has no user accounts at all, so there is nothing to register for.
How large can my files be?
Up to 200 MB per file and up to 20 files per job. Very large documents are limited by your device memory rather than by a server quota — if a job fails, try fewer pages at a time.
Can I use a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Encrypted files have to be unlocked first, otherwise the tools cannot read their pages. VoraPDF will tell you clearly when a file is encrypted instead of failing silently.
Does compression reduce quality?
Yes, and we say so plainly. Compression re-renders each page as an image, which shrinks scans and image-heavy documents a lot. Text in the compressed file is no longer selectable, so keep the original when text matters.
