What this tool does

PDF to Excel extracts the text of each page and writes it into spreadsheet rows, so a price list, an index or a long list of names becomes something you can sort and filter. You can keep one sheet per page or merge everything into a single sheet.

A PDF does not store tables, only text placed at coordinates. This tool reads those coordinates, groups text that sits on the same line, and preserves the gap between columns with tab characters — an honest text extraction rather than a promise that merged cells and formulas survive. Numbers arrive as numbers, so sums usually work immediately.

How to convert it

  1. Add the PDF with the table or list you need.
  2. Choose one sheet per page or a single merged sheet.
  3. Convert, open the .xlsx, and check the column split before you rely on it.

When to use it

  • Turning a printed price list into something you can filter.
  • Extracting an index or bibliography into a spreadsheet.
  • Getting addresses or names out of a PDF directory.

What it cannot do

  • No table reconstruction: columns are inferred from spacing, so check the result.
  • Scanned pages have no text and produce empty rows.

Questions about this conversion

Is this PDF tool really free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit on the number of files. The tools run on your own device, so there is no per-file cost to pass on to you.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Not for this tool: the conversion happens in your browser and the file is never sent anywhere. Where a job genuinely needs a server, the page says so before you start and deletes the copy with the job.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Pages are keyboard reachable and the drop area accepts the phone file picker. Large documents are limited by the memory of the device rather than by the site.

Can I use the output commercially?

Yes. We claim no rights over your documents or the files produced from them, and we add nothing to the output.

Are the numbers real numbers?

Values that look numeric are written as numbers, so SUM and sorting work. Amounts with currency symbols or thousand separators may arrive as text and need a quick cleanup.

Will merged cells and formulas be rebuilt?

No. A PDF contains no cell model at all, so there is nothing to rebuild. You get clean rows and columns, and you reapply formatting in Excel in a few clicks.
