The conversion runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

What this tool does

PDF to Word reads the text layer of each page and writes it into a real .docx file, so you can edit the wording, reuse paragraphs in a report, or run a spell check. The conversion happens in your browser: the document is never uploaded, and the file you get back opens in Word, LibreOffice, Pages and Google Docs.

This is a text conversion, not a page-image trick. Paragraphs, reading order and line breaks are rebuilt from the PDF text layer, which is what makes the result editable. A scanned PDF has no text layer to read, so it produces an empty document — no OCR is applied, and we say so instead of handing you a blank file with a success message.

How to convert it

  1. Choose a PDF, or drop it on the panel.
  2. Decide whether page breaks should survive into Word, and limit the page range if you only need part of the document.
  3. Press Convert to Word, then download the .docx.

When to use it

  • Editing a contract or report you only received as a PDF.
  • Reusing paragraphs from a PDF in a new document.
  • Making notes and comments in Word without retyping the text.

What it cannot do

  • Text only: images, charts and vector drawings are not carried over.
  • Complex multi-column layouts are linearised into a single reading order.

Questions about this conversion

Is this PDF tool really free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no daily limit on the number of files. The tools run on your own device, so there is no per-file cost to pass on to you.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Not for this tool: the conversion happens in your browser and the file is never sent anywhere. Where a job genuinely needs a server, the page says so before you start and deletes the copy with the job.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Pages are keyboard reachable and the drop area accepts the phone file picker. Large documents are limited by the memory of the device rather than by the site.

Can I use the output commercially?

Yes. We claim no rights over your documents or the files produced from them, and we add nothing to the output.

Why is my Word file empty?

The PDF has no text layer, which is normal for scans and photos of paper. This tool does not perform OCR, so there is nothing to extract. Run the file through an OCR tool first.

Do I lose the original formatting?

Fonts, colours and positioning are replaced by clean paragraph styles, because that is what makes the text editable. Tables come through as runs of text rather than as Word tables.
